Sphinn Puts The Spin on No-Follow July 25th, 2008

Sphinn, the Social site that has become every SEOs friend, has decided they have been a little too friendly. As a link from Shinn confers the coveted PageRank on all links back from the site, it has been noted that some sites don’t merit that implied approval, as spammers began docking in the relatively safe haven to take advantage of the free boost.

Therefore, Sphinn has announced that it is instituting a stern no-follow law on all new outbound links from upcoming stories, causing many a white hat SEO to groan right alongside the black hat spammer.

But wait! Hope is not lost. In an ingenious move, The site has stated that posts with a certain number of Sphinns may have the possibility of having their no-follow attribute removed - subject to the social networks approval, of course, so spammers, don’t waste your time trying to figure out a way to Sphinn it up.

This may actually be a positive thing, as it has been noted that some worthwhile posts often fall just below the radar. Perhaps this trial system will actually work better for all concerned - except, of course, the spammers.
