SEO NEWS: Google Didn’t Kill SEO – Just Spammy SEO

Saturday, April 28th, 2012

People are already singing the death hymns announcing that Google has killed SEO, but those people would once again be wrong. Just as they have been time and again over the last 3-4 years when every algorithm change perpetuated nay sayers to announce SEO is done. To the contrary, the is exactly the time and situation when you most need an SEO in your corner. The nay sayers do have a point though, at least to a small degree. Some aspects of SEO as we have known it are over.

For starters, the days of keyword stuffing everything imaginable to climb the SERPs has ended. If anything, this practice will take you back several steps, never mind thinking of going forward. Content farms are pretty much officially dead. The mass amount of backlinks pouring in to every page on a site from one platform are being devalued. This doesn’t impact legitimate link building, but the link cramming days are over. Black hat SEOs will have to come up with a whole new set of ways to game the system as some of their favorite tactics have been effectively voided.

What won’t change however is that a solid link building strategy employing properly optimized content is still going to be effective. Google’s Matt Cutts even said this was true, and if anyone would know it is him. If you have played by the rules, SEO will continue to be highly effective. If not, the black hat SEO tactics used to illegitimately manipulate the system are in fact dead.
