SEOs are facing a challenge as Facebook moves into yet another form of networking providing not only a networking platform to learn, but the challenge of learning how best to optimize on that network so that they can get it ranked. BranchOut, one of the latest Facebook apps, is posing a threat to the dominance of LinkedIn for professional referrals and networking with some 25 million registered users at this point and growing. With that large of a base, BranchOut profiles are beginning to get the kind of views that lead to being ranked in the SERPs.
For SEOs, the key to getting the most out of the profile, from a ranking standpoint, is partially the size of the network the user has, but also largely the bio that is constructed for the profile which is what seems to be getting crawled. While many early adopters failed to optimize their bio, those who have joined later and did take advantage of that tactic are seeing positive ranking results.
On top of that, BranchOut is seeing about 13 million unique visitors each month, and hosting around 3 million job offerings. That also is a potential area for SEOs to tap to get links out for any content which is related to a job opening. It is expected the membership will continue to increase at a steady rate as starting is just a matter of enabling the app unlike LinkedIn which requires a full and lengthy signup procedure.
