A new programming language on experimental basis has been launched by Google. This would be a great gift for the open source community as using this programming language users would be able to develop web interfaces and databases too. The new programming language that has been introduced, as ‘Go’ is a very web friendly scripting language as this language is a compiled version of the existing programming language Python and also includes the security benefits that are available in C++. By launching this programming language, Google has once again proved on how curios it is into entering the core infrastructure of the IT world. This launch has been a consequent launch after the creation of Android mobile operating system, the PC browser Chrome and also the Chrome OS that is yet to be released.
The developmental process of the ‘Go’ programming language was started two years ago and was worked out by a dedicated team of programmers. The development of the programming language has been carried by experts in the field that includes Mr. Ken Thompson and Mr. Rob Pike and Mr. Robert Thompson respectively. Mr. Ken Thompson and Mr. Rob pike were the creators of UNIX operating system and Mr. Robert Thompson was the developer of Java HotSpot compiler.
Google has officially announced it its blog that ‘Go’ is a systems programming language that has been developed for building web servers and databases without any hassle. The programming language can be called sophisticated one, as it has been developed to handle multiple process and also Multiple-core-based depending on the requirement. The main focus of the language has been described as the efficiency to handle the dependencies between software that are available in libraries.
Google has said, “Here at Google, we believe programming should be fast, productive, and most importantly, fun. That’s why we’re excited to open source an experimental new language called Go,” read the blog. “Typical builds feel instantaneous; even large binaries compile in just a few seconds. In addition, the compiled code runs close to the speed of C. Go lets you move fast.”
It seems that Google has already tested the programming language that has been launched internally. However, Google is now trying to build user-friendly applications using the same language as it is considered to be too young at this stage. Google has built great hopes around ‘Go’ and is expecting it to help them in the future. This would certainly be a great update for the users and would serve them with another option that they can use to develop the software they want with ease. Though much information on the feasibility and sophistication of the language is not available, it is expected to be good as it has been created and launched by Google.
