After its launch last year, we didn’t hear much from Cuil – but now the startup search engine has reappeared with a new addition – real time search. Cuil is joining the ever expanding group of search options that allow real time results to be displayed for users who are looking for the latest news on many topics.
The links Cuil seems to be sharing for its real-time results are webistes and pages online that people are sharing rather than the actual tweets and conversations, making it a little more professional looking.
There’s a lot of ambiguity about where exactly the results are coming from, and the ‘Hotness’ Bar is equally mysterious, but the user interface is very good. You can scroll horizontally through many different results. Whether they come from Twitter or other APIs is not clear, but who knows, Cuil may add extra info at a later date.
Cuil also added Map and Time-line results recently, and the little search engine seems to be trying to appeal to the younger generation as well as students.
