If you haven’t begun to target local search and maps for your SEO efforts, now is the time to start. Google Indexing is about more than just plain search results now – there are so many opportunities with local search!
This is being outlined neatly my Microsoft, which is being very innovative at the moment – many feel in an effort to get more users signed up for their Silverlight. The company press release says:
Photosynth and Silverlight are the underlying technologies in Bing Maps that connect everything and help provide the more seamless experience. Based on Seadragon and Photo Tourism concepts, Photosynth lets us literally “stitch” together photographs to provide more realistic view of locations as they appear in real life. Photosynth-enabled Streetside imagery is built on geometric models that are reconstructed underneath the imagery to provide a truly 3D experience that shows locations as they are in real life.

The bottom line is, search is moving to local, mobile, and maps, and search engine optimization efforts for brick and mortar companies need to be focused in this direction.
