Finally, Google is taking serious action to clean up AdWords.
Google reportedly cleaned house in October, although their statements were few and undefinitive. However, Google is making another hard push to get scammers and spammers kicked off AdWords, and Nick Fox, Google’s Business Product Management Director for AdWords has told Search Enghine Round Table that there are new changes coming and advertisers will be banned for breaking rules. Google will begin permanently banning advertisers at the account level, meaning these advertisers will be permanently banned, and their account and any new account will be banned from participating in AdWords.
The differences between these bans and the ones from October include:
(1) Permanent account bans.
(2) Better communication process.
Google will be notifying advertisers about the permanent ban by email; these will contain details of this ban and explain how to appeal the ban for a response from a Google representative.

Over the last decade Google has implemented a number of systems and processes to identify and disable ads that direct users to these offending websites. However, the ad disabling procedures have resulted in ongoingback and forth between us and these questionable advertisers as they try to outsmart our systems and processes. Therefore, we’re being stricter with advertisers who deliver a bad user experience by permanently disabling AdWords accounts that engage in prohibited behavior.
Recently we began implementing this new account disabling. As a result, many advertisers who provide a poor user experience and have previously had their ads disabled will now have their accounts disabled.
Nick Fox did say it is a “tiny minority” of their customers, but cautioned that the outcry is expected to be immense.
