Google is determined in making its Chrome Web browser perfect and free from bugs and crashes. In its efforts to correct all the bugs, Google has released an update, which is more of a developer-oriented nature. This update concentrates on the video playback issues faced by the browser and other issues that cause the crashing of the browser window. The number of problems that pop up with the Chrome browser makes us think that Google should have rushed its browser launch without giving itself enough time to test the browser for the issues. It is using the live field as its testing ground and this can indeed make the browser lose popularity. Once people walk away from this browser, it is difficult to get their attention back.
The latest update is Chrome 0.3.154.3 and in this update, the bugs on start up crashes that are faced with tablet PCs that work on Windows Vista are fixed. The recent version promises to be lot more stable when compared to the other versions launched so far.
As we can see, the race is on between FireFox and Google. FireFox has launched its latest version 3.1 on Tuesday. The latest FireFox version has shown tremendous improvement in the area of JavaScript. Microsoft for its share will come up with its own version of new browser, Internet Explorer 8. It has been noted however, that this is an unnecessary move from Microsoft as not many have even tried Internet Explorer 7. So it is very unlikely that Internet Explorer is going to make any big hit in the market. Overall, in this race FireFox is seemingly making great stride. Google Chrome raised a lot of anticipation but the annoying bugs and crashes of Google Chrome has hampered its popularity and it was really a bad start for Chrome. If only Google Chrome had to come to the market with all the fixes that it is making now, it would have received a better reception. Apple on its part is coming up with a new update to its Safari browser by the name Squirrelfish Extreme.
The latest version of Google Chrome also has fixes for problems relating to plug-ins, which causes the video to hang after playing for a second or so. There are also other plug-in priority issues that make the Chrome browser unresponsive and the latest release has fixes for these problems. It has been noted that Chrome is weak when it comes to security issues, downloading, and saving files such as .bat, .exe and .dll. This is seemingly a major issue that cannot be compromised. As per the release notes the latest version changes the way it responds to download commands for executable programs. The user has to approve unconfirmed_*.download files before they are downloaded with the real name. After downloading the real files, the unconfirmed files are deleted when the user exits the browser.
With all the problems with the Chrome browser, web designers are finding it a problem to make their websites compatible with this new browser because of the unpredictable behavior of the browser at this stage.
