As usual, Google coming up with an array of fancy customizations – this time right in time for the holidays. Google Docs now sports impressive holiday templates that seem designed to boost your online use more than ever.
Gift cards, party invitations and gift tags are only a few of the items available. They are all free, so all you would be out is the extremely exorbitant ink / toner prices and paper /labels… which by the way are being pushed by Avery – Denison as their brand being the one to use.
In addition to the holiday cheer from the templates sector, Google is also rolling out a Gmail customization option. This allows users to doll up their Gmail page with themes from the theemes settings, and should be available to all over the next few days.
The Official Gmail Blog gives more details. “Gmail fans have been building unofficial extensions to spice up their inboxes for a while, but up til now themes haven’t been an integral part of Gmail.”
“We wanted to go beyond simple color customization, so out of the 30 odd themes we’re launching today, there’s a shiny theme with chrome styling, another one that turns your inbox into a retro notepad, nature themes that change scenery over time, weather driven themes that can rain on your mailbox, and fun characters to keep you in good company.”
“There’s even an old school ascii theme (Terminal) which was the result of a bet between two engineers — it’s not exactly practical, but it’s great for testing out your geek cred.”
Spread the holiday cheer, get in the giving mood and shop online this Christmas seems to be the underlying sentiment Whatever the reason, it’s always nice to see new things from Gogle popping up to personalize our experience!
