Google keeps releasing new tools like this, we are going to be spending all our time tweaking and tinkering!
New this past week are:
Google Trends for Websites, allowing webmasters to track site visitation and compare traffic flow over time. Google properties have not been included in the available data, but the tool is expected to be of immense value to advertisers trying to jump ahead of the competition.
Google Map Maker was released just yesterday as a comprehensive interactive tool to map the world, and is also predicted to see an enormous amount of usage over the coming months. It provides previously limited locations with the capability to network with experienced cartographers and detail the surrounding areas.
The Ad Planner beta was also announced yesterday, and is an invitation only program designed to let you see what sites your audience is likely to visit, based in geographic and demographic data you have compiled regarding your target audience. This will hopefully lead to easier decision making when it comes time to choose how those precious advertising dollars are best spent.
AdWords’ Conversion Optimizer, which came out of beta in January is now supported by both AdWords Editor and the AdWords API. This is a hand tool if you need help determining what the optimum keywords and bids are for conversion traffic. The tutorials available on YouTube for the API are fantastic!
Last but not least, the Google Website Optimizer Service Plans are now available for live tech support on a variety of issues including:
* Experiment design
* Experiment set-up and implementation
* Report analysis
* A la carte incident consultation
* Phone and internet-chat support
* Personalized training
The breakdown cost for services is as follows:
1. $250/hour: For specific questions and quick answers. Maximum 1 call per hour. No commitment, no obligation.
2. $600/3 hours (in increments of 30 min): For more complex issues at discounted hourly rates. Must be used within 6 months after first hour of service is used.
3. $1,200/8 hours (in increments of 30 min): Good for 12 months after first hour of service is used.
This allows you to buy what you need and use it when you need it, and should be a valuable asset for anyone who doesn’t feel the need for a complete IT team, but could use a little once in a while guidance. Longer term consultation services are also available.
