Exodus of Yahoo Brass Continues

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

In the wake of Weiner’s reignation, yet more top Yahoo execs are bailing before the shareholders meeting in August.

Qi Lu, Executive VP of Yahoo’s of Secrh and Ad Technology is reportedly moving to China. Vish Makhijani, Senior Vice President of Search, is going to Russia to head up SF area operations for Yandex, the country’s leading search engine.

Brad Garlinghouse of The Peanut Butter Manifesto fame is also considering jumping ship. All three execs had been recently moved to Yahoo’s Global Products group headed by Ash Patel. Patel is currently Executive VP for Platforms and Infrastructure at Yahoo.

Hillary Schneider, Executive VP of Global Partner Solutions, is supposed to be reporting alongside Patel directly to Yahoo President Sue Decker. Decker is supposedly the driving force behind all the re-organization.

Execs who came on board with acquired companies are also walking away, apparently; del.icio.us founder Joshua Schachter is leaving as well as the co-founders of Flickr, Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake.

The continued flood of high ranking employees who are leaving Yahoo for good is seemingly ignored by the board and CEOs; apparently it doesn’t give them pause at all. Are they intent on just hanging on until the proxy fight is settled in August?

Meanwhile, they are hiring…..
