Once upon a time Google featured alternative search options at the bottom of the page. Now for those who wax nostalgic, there is a way to return to the glory days and choose what websites and search engines return results.
Matt Cutts reminded us that Google sometimes turns off features. He and another Googler (totally on their own) decided to recreate this search feature on Google with modern search engines and websites as a completely unofficial option for interested users to install.
Retro Links is a Greasemonkey script to add new search options to Google’s search results page, and works with Firefox. When Retro Links is installed, it looks like this:

Configuring Retro Links is simple, according to Cutts – you can get a drop down box and select defaults.

Matt also says you can easily add more sites to the options by making a simple code change and that the script checks to see if a newer version is available once per day. If an update is available a red box will appear in the bottom right corner of the page with a link to download the latest version – you can turn this feature off if you decide you don’t want the notification.
