Cameron Requests People To Store Health Records At Google or Microsoft

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Conversvatives have drawn many plans for the welfare of the people and to start with, it has requested all the patients to store their medical records with services offered by companies like Google and Microsoft.

In a discussion, Mr. David Cameron has said that he wishes all patients to use healthy services offered by Google and Microsoft called Google Health and Microsoft HealthVault. Both these services offered operate in the US and they act as an alternative to the government offered £12bn national patient record database.

In the discussion, the Liberal Democrats have said that the plan that is proposed would give undue commercial advantage for Google that is not required to take place. Mr. Cameron has noted the database of the electronic patient records planned by Labour and he seems to have realized on how centralized government programs in this regard can go wrong.

Mr. Cameron had said that he has already noticed that the database that was planned by Labour to store the electronic patient record has been a good example of how centralized government program can go wrong in this case. The confusions has lead to the delay and it is not expected to be completed anytime before 2014 that is almost four years behind the time it was scheduled to be completed.

The Tory leader in the latest Conservative spring conference that held in Cheltenham said that the party would have been able to manage to find a different and efficient approachable method to access the patient records from the database.

Mr. Cameron continuing his speech said that they would have said, “Today you don’t need a massive central computer to do this. People can store their health records securely online; they can show them to whichever doctor they want. They’re in control, not the state.”

He added saying that when the patients themselves are in control of their health records, they would be more interested in improving their health and would make them feel more responsible in taking care of themselves thereby saving the NHS money. However, the best way to go about it would be to make use of health record saving time and money. They can even use services like Google Health or Microsoft’s Health Vault. This system would also in saving huge money.
However, the proposal is still being discussed and not yet decided to be implanted. But whatever be the case, one important task that needs to be carried out is that whether it be Google Health or Microsoft’s Healthy vault system, it would be required to customize it to suit and work in the UK.

On the basis of this plan, the patients would have full control over their health records whereas the records would be computed after everything has been finalized. It would completely in the hand of the patient to decide on whether he or she would like to switch to the private provider or remain alone without any monopoly.
