Most people don’t even know what is site map? So let me start from what is site map.
In everyday term I’ll say it’s a list of the entire link on your site on one page. Technically sitemaps are created to give access to entire matrix of your site with browsing the entire site. When you’ve site map you don’t need to worry about if every page is linked with each other or not, sitemap will take care of it.
Site map is been looked at very respectively in Search Engine Optimization. As discussed earlier it gives entire matrix of the site on one page. That means when Search Engine spider comes to your website doesn’t need to work hard to find all the pages. The example may be more relevant with sites that has thousands of pages on there website. Site map helps spider in crawling each and every page very easily no matter how big the website is and webmaster can stop worrying if all the pages are been crawled by SE (Search Engine) spider.
Let’s see the most important factors for using sitemap:
1) Helps sites with huge number of pages to get crawled easily by search engine spider. It also helps to crawl deep linked pages for which crawler may need to work hard to find it.
2) Right distribution of pages is important for Google’s Page Rank. If you connect each and every page of your site with each other that can affect the Page Rank of important pages. You don’t want page like about us page, which is only designed for visitors to be linked to each and every page. Such actions can affect the Page rank of your important page. So you can link if from sitemap and only have top level pages or important pages link to it.
Remember keep Sitemap creation as your Search Engine Marketing Strategy.
Tips on Creating Good Site Map.
