Making sure you have properly optimized you home page is important, as it shows pride in your site. You may argue that practically no links lead here, and that your landing pages cover what you want.
Not so. Your home page should be as awesomely optimized as the rest of your site, and have a clean cut professional appearance. At least, we’re showing but it would be friendly
You should definitely have links feeding PageRank to your main home page so you can pass this on to other important pages. Your home page should be the top of the pyramid, with a distinct internal linking.
If you do your home page right, it too may start to rank – boosting your online presence and getting you noticed. Since it is a page that many of your customers will see first, you want to make sure it is engaging and welcoming, and naturally leads a click for a deeper page on your site.
The home page can have widgets and gadgets galore, but unless you spent the same amount of attention to good, quality, readable text for the spiders, you will get a whole lot of queries wanting you to do extra stuff on the side, which can become monotonous.
You can have graphics and even a short video, but you need your home page to load quickly so you don’t lose bored clients! Your home page should carry some key components. Draw attention to the privacy link. You want your customers to feel safe and secure while on your site. You can use a logo on the page itself if that is easier.
You also need a link to your About Us page. Another to your Contact Us page. Both of these pages should be uncluttered and neat with no ads.
From there you can expand. Sitemap is very helpful – I love sites with site map and never get lost on such sites. It makes navigation every thing it should be. The spiders can crawl them quickly and easily, and your human customers can follow then to ‘the way out’.
You can link down to your main category pages, then start sharing the link love ALL around. Your lower level pages will benefit from any links they have, and you can supplement this with directory submissions that you can link right to the page.
As you build your site stronger and stronger, you will have multiple thoughts on that idea. Once you have achieved the right number of links to keep your page noticed, you can start concentrating on even more content
